摘要 | Jantaropterix ellenbergeri sp.n - this dominant species from Cenomanian Myanmar amber represents 5-15 % of all collected cockroaches. Its plesiomorphic venation and carination patterns reveal its basal derivation and classification within Umenocoleidae. Ten immatures representing the same larval stage preserved in a single piece of amber indicate that females bearing externally protruding ovipositors might have laid isolated eggs not remotely separated from each other. Its autochtonity is supported by a sister species J. newjersey VRSANSKY & GRIMALDI, 2003 (NJ amber) with both adult and immature stages. This common circum(sub)tropic Early-Late Cretaceous genus that is absent in the sedimentary record documents discordance between major fossil deposits. |
