摘要 | A specimen of Ramenta cambriana from the Zhongyicun Member of the Meishucunian Stage at Beideng, Anning County of eastern Yunnan, provides new information on details of the shell microstructure. The phosphate-replaced shell wall contains two shell layers, the inner layer of lamello-fibrillar structure and the outer layer of vertical acicular structure. The lamello-fibrillar structure consists of several laminae, each of which is formed by mostly parallel Fibrillae; in adjacent laminae the fibrillae run in a different direction, forming a crossed pattern in dorsal view. The shell sculpture consists of scales, which are asymmetrical in fractured sections; the steep side of a scale abuts the gently sloping one of the adjacent scale. The microstructure of R. cambrina, a layered, composite shell, suggests an affinity with the Mollusca. |
